Day 227 The Gang
Saturday, August 15 - Took these bright and early Thursday morning of a group of my late calves. I just love them at this stage. Not really babies, but cuter than heck anyway. There are 7 of them that are buddies that are always hanging out together. Our trip to Helena yesterday was fantastic. The Rusty Pickle owner was our instructor and we did two albums that were just awesome. He is a great teacher and such a character. It was fun to shop at The Memory Trail too. We had a late lunch at Wheat Montana. There was a brief break between classes for us to have a chocolate fountain fondue which was so good. We stopped on our way home at Taco Bell, ate on the road and I was home by midnight. Such a fun time for our girls day/night out.  I love spending time with my friends. We all needed it so much. The guys are finishing the durum this afternoon and will move on to some of the ruined winter wheat next. They were still going at midnight last night. I feel so sorry for Walter and Carl; they are so blue and discouraged. Who would have guessed that we would have saw flies and 5 inches of rain all in August. If we had not swathed the grain due to the saw flies, maybe it would have been better; but who knows. Farming is such a gamble.

Good looking calves…strange taste in earrings, but what can you expect from cows???
