Wouldn’t it be fun to be a child again, at times? This is what the children do at White Sands, especially when it is spring break in New Mexico. Imagine getting to use your “flying saucer” to slide down hills of warm, white stuff. They sell the sleds in the gift shop and as you can see, they are everywhere. Â I kept thinking it would be so much fun for each and every one of my grandkiddos to enjoy this place.
Doesn’t this look like the snow we have in Montana when we get some of those southwest winds to do some drifting? Nice white sand in the late afternoon.
When I first saw these plants, they made me think of little African warriors in a group on the hill. What do you think?
Lots of reflections this morning. It was tricky shooting in a snow-like environment with so much white. Lots of exposure compensation for sure!!
This was late afternoon from high on a dune. The lovely illumination on the bush was a very lucky shot. A definite case of being in the right place at the right time.
I took these two shots of a footprint in the sand from different directions. As you can see, one footprint looks like a depression, while the other looks like it is raised. Even that little depression in the sand looks different depending how the light hits it. Interesting!
Each Yucca plant has seed pods this time of year. Depending on the light, they can appear very golden or silvery, as you can see from this and a previous shot.
Here is a shot of some of the foliage that is on the dunes  at White Sands. Lots of Yucca and grasses. Some pretty hardy plants.
