Day 228 Good Job, Marilynn

We were enjoying a picnic  lunch when these little visitors decided to beg. Marilynn had so much fun chasing them around and coaxing a few shots from the little guys. Good job, Marilynn. Thanks for being my guest photographer today.

Day 227 Helloooww, Mr. Elk

We were buzzy down the highway when we came upon the usual traffic jam caused by a wildlife sighting. I snapped this one as we were directed to keep moving by a ranger. As Walter would say, pretty nice rack. Once again, some blue sky sure would have been nice.

Day 226 Another Wide Bison Shot

This small valley was just full of bison. It looked to me like the pasture was extra lush here and they had lots of nice soft soil for wallows and of course, good water. I would have liked to have seen some blue sky.

Day 225 The Color Version

Here is the color version of the previous picture. Not quite the cold feel of the previous one. Wish we could have had better lighting, but it was just the wrong time of the day.

Day 224 What Happened Here?

I think this has an almost dark post apocalyptic feel to it. Did a few quick changes in Lightroom and I think I like it better than the color version.

Day 223 Life Anew

This shows the effect that a forest fire can have. A new life is born between two burned out trees.

Day 222 The Young Boys Playing

This group of young male antelope had the traffic stopped for quite some time. They were having quite the time playing big boys pushing each other around. Crazy people were out of their vehicles taking photos right in front of them. We stayed in our vehicle where we belonged! Funny how people think Yellowstone is like a zoo.

Day 221 The Colors of Yellowstone

Here are a few shots of one of the hot pools in Yellowstone. Love the color here. This park certainly didn’t plan on all the crowds that now visit. It is so hard to even take photos with the pushing and shoving of rude people. I guess being a photographer makes me more aware of who I might be standing in front of blocking a shot.

Day 220 Bison Everywhere

We had very little luck finding any wildlife at all on our first day in Yellowstone on our post fair excursion.  The Lamar Valley had the only bison and it was so dry there. The pasture looked very overgrazed and the water was low. This was taken the 2nd day on our way to the geyser basin. Much greener here and more animals too. Picked up another Canon 40D at Bozeman Camera to use strictly for macro with my new ring flash.  Am considering a 600mm that they keep emailing me about. Would be good for wildlife.

Day 219 Goodnight San Francisco

A sunset from San Francisco. This was near a lighthouse on the coast and we were enjoying the sound of the foghorn. I miss that peaceful sound.
