Day 238 A Blue Moon of Many Colors
My friend, Curtis, came out last night to shoot the Blue Moon. Here are three examples of how it changed color as it went through the smoky atmosphere. Pretty nice night for visiting while the shutters clicked.

A wolf has been sighted! Really?? Sure, right there to the right of that lone tree out there on the flat. We looked and looked. Then drove down the road a bit farther and looked back to see this head peak out. Word had it that there was a pair of wolves(one black, one white) there and yes, I do believe I see one right there to the LEFT of the tree. Click on the photo and see what you think. That is one very large dog when you consider how far away it is and how big that tree is.
I had this together with the previous one, but couldn’t get rid of that big space at the bottom without removing one. So here goes the 2nd one. I think this one might need to be brightened up, just a bit, which I did in the top photo. I would much rather get a photo right in the camera than spend time fixing on the computer, so this is new to me. Lightroom is an amazing program. I am so glad that I did that Lightroom workshop in California and updated to LR5.
Spent a little time this morning messing around in Lightroom with sliders and the such. I came up with these fixes of a couple of the photos I posted the last few days to make them look more like paintings. Now if I can just remember the recipe I came up with.
This capture came from the Lower Geyser Basin. One has to wonder how any vegetation can live in here. Bought my tickets last night to fly to Death Valley this fall. So excited to spend a week in that beautiful place. I loved it the last time I was there and I am sure that it will be just as thrilling this time. Doing a workshop with Rocky Mountain School of Photography and Doug Johnson is bound to be rewarding. Sand Dunes, here I come!!
Just a scenery shot that looks very painterly to me. This one was taken at the geyser basin just before it started raining.
Only bear we saw the entire time and you can actually tell it is a bear. As usual, the cars were stopped and people out everywhere. We rolled down our window and asked what they saw and found out it was a grizzly from afar. So here we go with a shot of the only bear we saw. Make sure you click on the photo so that you can actually see it is a grizzly. I was truly surprised at the lack of wildlife. The wind is blowing hard again today and there is an increased fire danger warning. Not liking this weather much.
I do not understand how this little bush survives on the edge of a hot mud pit. I guess it has to be tough for sure. There are lots of animal tracks all around in the mud. I would imagine that in the winter the wildlife hang out here to warm up. A group of us has been talking about making a trip here this next winter to enjoy the park when snow returns. I haven’t done that since attending MSU.
Obviously no one told this tree that it had to grow straight up to the sky. Thought it’s angle was pretty interesting.
That is Marilynn and Debbie overlooking one of the pools. We did quite a few of these shadows and really liked how they turned out.
