Day 97 Queen/King of the Jungle
This female lion or young male was traveling with a whole pride which we so enjoyed viewing. It was our first  of many lion sightings.

This big guy is enjoying munching on a clump of yummy grass. Our weather is nice and wet today. Sadly enough, they are calling for snow tonight. Why can’t it just rain?
This little Plover had success finding some suitable nesting material. Â We watching the little guy go back and forth to his future nesting site building away. This is sure a good example of nature’s camouflage. Mom and Dad are sick with the stinking virus that is going around. I know they are receiving excellent care at assisted living, but I am still worried about them. They were both still asleep this morning when I came for our daily shared breakfast. There are several other people there with the same symptoms, so I know they are not alone. Sending up prayers for a fast recovery. I took Dad to the doc yesterday to find out he did indeed have a fever and that it was more than likely a virus. I sure hope I don’t get it.
This African Fish Eagle was hanging out along the river in the Serengeti. I think he/she was looking for an easy meal. There were several drowned Cape Buffalo and Wildebeest that offered tasty tidbits for feasting on.
The Malachite Kingfisher has a considerably longer tail than the Grey-headed, doesn’t he? I wish I could have gotten a closer shot with the pretty bird out of the shadows, but he would not cooperate.
These are from the Lake Manyara region. Lots of Kingfishers there. The region is suffering from a terrible drought and so many of the animals and birds have left.
