Day 254 Cool, Clear Water

Sunday, September 11 – We are so lucky to have abundant water here in Montana. I know I take that for granted. A trip down to Giant Springs really makes one realize how fortunate we truly are. Here are a couple of shots of the gallons of water that are pouring out of the Madison Stream each day.

Day 253 The Year Of The Sunflower

Saturday, September 10 – This is certainly the year of the wild sunflower. They are growing in abundance along our lane. I am off to the Farmer’s Market this morning to pick up my vegie share. It is very brisk out this morning; just 43 degrees. I would not be surprised to hear that it froze in low lying areas.

The old, the new and the future

Day 252 A Wayward Feather

Friday, September 9 – This white feather took a little trip over the chicken yard fence in the wind we were having.

Day 251 The Chicken Nuggets

Thursday, September 8 – The chicks that were hatched at school are growing up. Here are some shots of Poseiden, the Araucana rooster and Yard Bird, the Speckled Sussex hen. We have Isaak and Caramel, both hens, also, but they were being camera shy. We are getting an egg a day from the chicken nugget hens. That is really good, as pullets don’t usually start laying until they are 20 weeks and these girls were only 16 weeks. Must be that good organic feed they are eating. Yard Bird belongs to Emma and Poseiden is Becca’s.
