Day 17 They Did Come Visiting

Monday, January 17 – I have a guest photographer on the blog today. Walter went out this morning and found elk tracks in our yard. So they do exist!  We were told that there is an ordinance in this area to have your outside lights off by 10, so as not to bother the elk. He just had to shoot a few to prove they do visit here and leave their signs.Pictures that only Walter would think were important. He tells me that is elk manure, or I guess they call it sign, right? I guess I should say thanks for sharing.  Hey, Curtis, Walter wants to know when you are coming?

Day 16 Don’t Forget Me!

Sunday, January 16 – Jade heard that she had been left out of a place on the blog, so here goes a hello from Jade too. She has adjusted so well to the new house and seems to love it here. She enjoys all the windows and loves to sit on the back of a chair and watch the world go by. I think she had spotted a bird in these.

Day 15 The Green Arches of McDonald’s

Saturday, January 15 – I almost forgot about the green McDonald’s arches here. I think they are the only non-golden ones anywhere.  I grabbed this shot as we were driving to Basha’s grocery.

Day 14 Shep Says Hello

Friday, January 14 – Shep is not sure if he is enjoying Sedona or not. He loves it as long as we stay right here with him. He enjoys the walks he goes on with Walter and exploring the huge yard. He has to be crated whenever we leave and you would think we were subjecting him to some kind of torture. He hides and shakes like a leaf. Poor dog.  Walter just vacuumed and he even hid from that. There is central vac in this house, so it sure makes it easy.

Day 14 Hey, Curtis, Remember This Place?

Friday, January 14 – We went to The Oak Creek Brewing Company tonight. A place I went to with Curtis and Leslee and then  with Brad and Billi. Walter had a mighty fine light microbrew.  I had a turkey burger with onion rings. We had a cone of French fries with assorted sauces too. Really good. All shots taken with the G11. Walter  hiked for 5 hours today and I just stayed home and rested. We did go out late this afternoon for me to do some shooting.

Day 13 Walter Being Walter

Thursday, January 13 – Walter is getting into this vacation thing. This was this afternoon in front of the big screen television. He was getting caught up on his ipad. There are 4 big recliners there and he is enjoying them.  We got a subscription to the GFTribune epaper today, so that he can keep up with the news  at home.  He did go to a local gun shop today and went out exploring the town a bit. I stayed home and finished my recipe swap recipes and edited some photos. We had barbecued blue cheese hamburgers tonight on the grill. The dog and cat are both very comfortable. Jade has picked her favorite resting place – on one of the beds between the many pillows. As you can see, Shep is still right there for a pat on the head.

Day 12 Wildflower Bread Company

Wednesday, January 12 – This is one of my favorite places to eat in Sedona. Curtis, Leslee and I first went here a couple of years ago for a fabulous breakfast. They have an awesome stuffed French toast and yummy oatmeal. We went here in October with Becca and Emma and had sandwiches/soup that were out of this world. I remember the chicken with dumplings soup and chicken salad sandwich very well. Walter and I had lunch here yesterday and this time I had a Forest Mushroom soup that was to die for. He said the BLT was one of the best he has ever had. We bought a loaf of sour dough that is going to be toast for breakfast. I had a piece of  Boston Cream Pie for a snack  last night too. Yum!! My favorite. We will definitely be frequenting Wildflower Bread Company often.  They have a huge bouquet of blown glass wildflowers that I just had to get a shot of. Remember these, Becca and Emma? Grandpa Walter and I sat right at the table below them. Walter is going hiking today and I am going to work on my photos for class.

Day 11 My View

Tuesday, January 11 – Here is the view out my kitchen and living room windows. Not sure what the name is of this rock formation, but it was definitely the center of how this house was layed out. The first shot is from yesterday late afternoon. The other two are this morning, just as the sun was coming up. We have an absolutely gorgeous view here. The Village of Oak Creek is one of the favorite places to live. Our house is 3 bedrooms/2 1/2 baths and is on 5 acres. It even has a horse barn.

Day 10 On The Road Again/We Have Arrived

Monday, January 10 – We set out early this morning from St. George and went through Las Vegas, Flagstaff and then arrived in Sedona. It was around 8 degree in St. George when we left and 45 here in Sedona when we got here. It is supposed to be around 70 by the weekend. I am loving this weather. Our house is gorgeous. The pets traveled well and are seeming to enjoy it. It is just as gorgeous here as it was in October. We got our first groceries at a Healthy Food Market that was just awesome. Got some all natural beef that I will eat. I love having the availability to have organic food that is so fresh. I will take my camera next time and get some shots of the produce section. Here are some shots from St. George to Sedona, as we traveled along. That one of the water is actually all you can see of Hoover Dam now that they have the new bridge open. I did okay crossing it, as the concrete sides don’t let you even get a glimpse over the side. The one that looks like a mine is actually a land fill. Walter thought it was for the garbage from LasVegas.

Day 9 Hello, Idaho Falls

Sunday, January 9 – We arrived in Idaho Falls last night after a pretty good travel day. The roads were good. It snowed a bit last night and we woke to a skiff of snow. Heard at breakfast from a couple of Canadian couples that it is horrid in Canada. Calgary was 30 below today and the roads were almost impassable to the US border. I am sure glad we came when we did. I shot these right in front of the Best Western that we stayed at. It is on to St. George, Utah today. Will shoot some there tomorrow morning before heading out to Sedona. It was dark when we got here. Walter just had to stop at Cabela’s when we went by close to Salt Lake City. The roads were pretty good and we left the snow behind and the cold too. It is 45 degrees here now. The dog and cat are traveling very well. Jade slept most of the time and Shep is out cold right now. We have a lovely room here and they are enjoying that. Sedona, here we come!!
