Day 297 I Love Pumpkins!
Sunday, October 24 – This is Audra’s niece enjoying the newly harvested pumpkins. I think she can hardly wait to get her favorite one home and start carving. What a cute 3 year old!!

Saturday, October 23 – Here are some of my dad’s surviving siblings; Alma, George, Dad and Mary. Dad’s younger brother, Jim, was gone that day. There were 8 children in the family and 22 grandchildren. I have no idea how many great grandchildren or great grandchildren.Â
Friday, October 22 – Not many days left to enjoy these happily blooming sunflowers. Winter will soon be upon us.
Thursday, October 21 – Here is part of the truck load of pumpkins that Eric and Audra harvested this year. Won’t it be fun to carve these into jack-o-lanterns? Lots of pumpkin pie in the future here.
Wednesday, October 20 – Is there anything better than fresh apple cider in the fall? We were treated to fresh apple cider at Eric’s. It was a wonderful first year for Eric and Audra. I sure will have another share next year in their wonderful produce. Good job, guys.
Tuesday, October 19 – Cattle Shipping Day. This day is always long and feels so good when it is over. I shot this unusual sky last weekend.
Monday, October 18 – Becca has a favorite Buff Orpington rooster at the farm and dearly loves him. Charlie used to be Emily, until someone told Becca that he was not a she. We went for the final produce pickup yesterday and had such a great time. Eric and Audra served carrot soup and hot cider which were so good. We have a regular little chicken whisperer in the family. That silly rooster goes everywhere with her and is quite the pet already. She could even get him to sleep on her shoulder, as you can see. Becca, you have quite the buddy there. I wish that you could have him in town. Wouldn’ t he love to live in your playhouse and then roost on your bedframe at night? Don’t know if your mom would go for that and the neighbors wouldn’t like your alarm clock.

Sunday, October 17 – Today is Brad’s 40th birthday. Happy Birthday!! These are shots from the recent antelope hunting trip to the Jordan area. As you can see, it was pouring rain. Nothing like gutting an animal in the mud!! I am proud of you for keeping your family fed for the winter.
Saturday, October 16 – We woke to 30 degrees this morning and finally have frost on everything. I covered my one fall mum and a pepper plant at midnight last night and it was getting a bit nippy then. I always hate to see that killing frost come; as it means cold weather is soon here. It is very late this year and I have so enjoyed all the beautiful fall flowers. Here are some leaves at the barn that I took this morning with my G11.
Friday, October 15 – I took the sunrise the last two mornings – just couldn’t help myself when I saw the colors. I thought it was pretty interesting how they change from day to day. We are finally done preconditioning calves and getting them moved around for shipping. I am going to a party tomorrow at Eric’s farm where we pick up our weekly vegies. Should be a fun time. He and Audra have been ‘backgrounding’ my chickens – meaning they have been feeding them and taking care of them until they are ready to be in a regular chicken coup without heat lamps. I am excited to get them home here in November. Bobbi, Billi and I are going to share the expenses and the resulting eggs.
