Day 149 Becca, You Are An Awesome Model!

Saturday, May 29 – Here are some more of the shots I did of Becca on Sunday. She is so much fun to work with. She is quite the photographer too. I expect to see some tremendous compositions from her in the coming years. It has been raining the last couple of days and is so nice and green out. We are dealing with mud again though.  I attended Brooke’s spring concert yesterday where she played the viola.  Then this morning I went in to hear Chase play in the jazz band. He played the first solo of the concert which made it extra exciting.

Day 148 What A Tree!!

Friday, May 28 – I just got my critiques back tonight and got perfects on all three. The one of Becca from my PAD yesterday was called AMAZING. He said it was one of his favorites from the class. This one of Emma was praised as well. My instructor made a comment about this tree being one of the most perfect he has seen for taking photos. I so agree. I have used it in the past too. Billi ran the refector and he made a comment on how that reflector added to the photos. I love using a reflector and am so glad that I learned how to use one. I am pretty happy with the results this week. There are some excellent photographers in my class and they have some gorgeous shots. I hope that Billi, Brad and the girls like these shots; they were sure fun to do.

Day 147 Looking Pretty In A Tree

Thursday, May 27 – Becca and I spent the day together yesterday on a photo shoot. We started out by going to the Flower Farm for a couple of hours. What gorgeous shots she got there. Then we moved on to the Milwaukee Depot where I did a few of her for my class. I found the light a bit harsh; wrong time of day. We moved on to the steam museum after a lunch at the 5th Street Diner. She had fun finding things to take pictures of there. We moved on to her house and that favorite tree that the girls like to climb in the backyard. Billi acted as the reflector gal which was a great help getting those catch lites in the eyes right.  Then it was off to dinner at Ryan’s Station. We did a few more shots of flowers when we got home. What a fun day we had with our cameras. I was up until 2:30 this morning going through my photos for class that I took. They are all uploaded now and I am bushed. Here is one that I shot for class. This was shot with my Canon 5DM2 and the 70-200mm L 2.8. I love the backlighting that this tree gives in the late afternoon. Billi did a great job of bouncing that light.

Day 146 Which Came First The Chicken Or The Egg?

Wednesday, May 26 – Becca sent these photos to me this morning. She has been out taking photos like crazy lately. I see so much creativity in this child. She has such a creative eye.  The chicks photo was taken in Billi’s classroom. (they hatch chicks every year) The color is golden from the heat lamp. I love that egg photo! Thanks, Becca, for furnishing such awesome photos for my blog today. I have more of your photos to share tomorrow too.

Day 145 In Full Bloom

Tuesday, May 25 – Lily is sitting her on my lap helping me put my PAD up. It is pouring rain out and supposed to continue for sometime this week. My trip to the Flower Farm yielded some nice images with the little G11. Everything in this particular room was in full bloom. Lots of color and very springlike!!

Day 144 Goodbye Snow

Monday, May 24 – Our snow is finally all gone. Shep was enjoying one last romp through our last remaining snowdrift right by the house when I shot these.  This is where the kids like to sleigh ride. That second photo was taken through my living room window, so there is some distortion. Mom and Dad still have drifts that are 5 feet tall at the ranch. Lots of fence is laying flat. There is alot of flooding around Belt creek right now and this coming rain isn’t going to help slow that down. We worked cows in the rain this morning.

Day 143 Spidery Gerbera

Sunday, May 23 – Here is a shot of a Spider Mix Gerbera done Lensbaby painterly style using both of my macro filters. I used the backlighting from my round window early in the morning. I am going to have this one made into a canvas for the bathroom.  We are vaccinating cows this morning before the rain hits tonight. It is beautiful out right now with the sun shining. Tristan and Lily come tomorrow for the day. I might get some shots for class done then, if I get some cooperation from the big eyed kids.

Day 142 Copper Amethyst

Saturday, May 22 – Here is  one of those Lensbaby flower shots from class. I made a trip out to the Flower Farm to do some shooting there and also to purchase some plants that I could work with at home. The diffused light in a greenhouse is perfect for shooting. This Osteospermum was one that came home with me. I love the unusual color combo and the blooms last so long; not one has even faded yet. They had a whole room full of these in different colors and this unusual combo really caught my eye. The plant is full of buds and should be in full bloom in a week or so. It is raining today and smells so good out. Looks like that is what is ahead through the weekend. I received my new soft focus optic for the Lensbaby yesterday and will be trying it out the next few days. My dining room table and reflector are waiting for me.

Day 141 Happy Birthday, Dad!!

Friday, May 21 –  May is full of family birthdays. Dad’s is the last one for the month and in celebration, I am putting up one of my Lensbaby shots that I took for class. My instructor told me to have this one enlarged for the wall. I have some more that go with it to make a set and might do a canvas or two. Happy 82nd Birthday, Dad. It is supposed to rain later today. We have been having 80 plus degree days and they should drop down to the 50s by weekend. Everything is getting so green and smells so good out. I am more than ready for summer.

Day 140 Happy Birthday, Martha

Thursday, May 20 – May 19 is actually Martha’s birthday. So here you go with a flower for your day. We are just a few days early with this post. I finally have decided that I can slow down my posts, so that I am not so far ahead. My new photography class kept me busy all weekend. It was on selective focus and I shot flowers all week long. Then it came time to chose what to submit for my assignment. No easy task with hundreds to go through and a very slow computer.  This shot was with my Lensbaby and both macros attached. Tiffany gave me a gorgeous salmon colored Dahlia for Mother’s Day and this a bud on it. Thanks again, Tiffany, for a gift that has been viewed again and again this week.
