Day 233 Oh, Emma, I Love Your Glasses!

Friday, August 21 – Emma just got her 4th pair of fashion glasses. Her biggest wish right now is to have bad eyes, so that she has to wear glasses. I have worn glasses for over 50 years and can not understand why anyone would want to wear them. I guess they have such cute frames now and honestly , she has such a cute little face that they are perfect on her.  She enjoyed her ice cream as much as the rest, but I think her favorite was the Caesar Salad for lunch. That is her very favorite food. As you can see, she thoroughly got into enjoying that lettuce.  Emma, you are quite the little eater.

Day 232 A Typical Brynn Day

Thursday, August 20 – Brynn was busy climbing tree while her sister and cousin were enjoying their huge ice cream cones/dishes. She was more ‘down to earth’ when it came to chosing the number of scoops; in her case it was three which she had no problem getting rid of.  She is such a card when it comes to making those weird faces which just mortifies her big brother. Oh, Brynn, you are such a character.

Day 231 This Is So Yummy!

Wednesday, August 19 – Here is Becca devouring her 9 scoops of ice cream at the Udder Factory. She didn’t quite get through them all, but pretty close. As you can see, the girls chose different assortments of flavors. I know there was some cookie dough, firestick, cotton candy, peppermint stick, gummy bear and lots of other yummy flavors involved. I hope they didn’t have tummy aches last night.

Day 230 I Ate The Whole Thing

Tuesday, August 17 – I spent the day with 5 of my grandchildren and what a day it was!! I hope they had as much fun as I did. We first watched a movie, then went to Hempl’s for donuts, off to Amazing Toys and then to lunch at The Udder Company and followed with ice cream. Brooke decided she needed 9 scoops of ice cream on her cone which they actually do called a Moo-la-la. I could not believe that she ate the whole thing!! Here is a series of photos of her enjoying her dessert. Becca ordered the same thing, but didn’t quite get through the whole thing. I will have photos of more of our adventure the next couple of days. They even did a circus show for me this afternoon. Oh, dear, who ever would have guessed that house paint and nail polish would become face paint, in a 9 year old’s eyes.  They got the paint off just fine, but the red nail polish nose took some remover and scrubbing. They definately surprised me with their version of a clown for sure. What a fun day!!

Day 228 A Wonderful Surprise

Sunday, August 16 – I just had to share some photos of these beautiful Lilies that arrived this week from a dear friend who knew I was having a tough day. She knew exactly what would brighten up my mood. I couldn’t wait to get the camera out and do some macros.I will share some more shots tomorrow.  We went to a family dinner tonight. It was supposed to be a barbecue, but we ended up inside due to rain. I am beginning to wonder if we are ever going to get the last of the harvest in. The pastures and hay fields are sure looking good. I think we might have as much 2nd cutting alfalfa as we had first cutting. That is really unusual. I guess there is some positive about all this rain we are seeing. We had 3/4 inch yesterday. I spent a few hours scrapbooking today at Cheryl’s and will go back again tomorrow to get a little more done.

Day 227 The Gang

Saturday, August 15 -  Took these bright and early Thursday morning of a group of my late calves. I just love them at this stage. Not really babies, but cuter than heck anyway. There are 7 of them that are buddies that are always hanging out together.  Our trip to Helena yesterday was fantastic. The Rusty Pickle owner was our instructor and we did two albums that were just awesome. He is a great teacher and such a character. It was fun to shop at The Memory Trail too. We had a late lunch at Wheat Montana. There was a brief break between classes for us to have a chocolate fountain fondue which was so good. We stopped on our way home at Taco Bell, ate on the road and I was home by midnight. Such a fun time for our girls day/night out.   I love spending time with my friends. We all needed it so much. The guys are finishing the durum this afternoon and will move on to some of the ruined winter wheat next. They were still going at midnight last night. I feel so sorry for Walter and Carl; they are so blue and discouraged. Who would have guessed that we would have saw flies and 5 inches of rain all in August. If we had not swathed the grain due to the saw flies, maybe it would have been better; but who knows. Farming is such a gamble.

My Final Critiques

I just got back the critiques from Bobbi Lane for my final assignment and just had to share, as I had used those images for Day 223; Tristan, dark side and light side and Gage. Now I need to practice and get this natural lighting down pat. I still have a heck of a time with porch or garage door lighting.
Robyn, lovely and effective images. Tristan’s light and dark side are really well done! Wonderful lighting, and fill on #2, and very effective Rembrandt with the dark shadow, tilt of the head and unhappy expression. Both are great images. The baby is just lovely, so sweet and touching, wonderful soft light and the direction, quality and depth all combine together to make a stunning portrait. Just tugs at your heart! so very well done1

Day 226 Holy Cow, I Have My Hands Full!

Friday, August 14 – My daughter definately has her hands full with the boys. She does such a fantastic job dealing with the needs of twins. I remember back to the days when my twins were that age. She certainly is a whole lot more organized than I was.  She should be so proud of her beautiful boys. I sure am proud of her! It was so much fun taking these photos. I look forward to taking many more, in the future, as they grow up.
